Ramayana Box Office Collection Day 1: Nitesh Tiwari’s recent directorial Ramayana has been creating waves ever since it was announced for all the right reasons. From marking Nitesh’s return to direction after 3 years to Ranbir Kapoor’s comeback on big screen after three years of Animal, the stellar cast, massive budget and more, Ramayana had all the elements to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. For the uninitiated, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Anupam Kher, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh etc in the lead.

Starring Ranbir as Lord Ram, Yash as Raavan, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ramayana witnessed a grand release in India and has hit the theatres in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages. The movie opened to a mixed response from the audience with a major section of the audience mighty disappointed with the vfx, screenplay and music of this mythological epic. The mixed response did have an effect on the advance booking and the opening day collection of Ramayana as well.
Ramayana Box Office Collection Day 1
After earning Rs 50.08cr from advance booking, Ramayana saw a decent start at the box office. While the initial expectations stated that the movie will be crossing Rs 100cr in India on the opening day, Ramayana failed to meet the expectations and earned Rs 64.85cr in India. This includes:
Hindi – Rs 47.5cr
Kannada – Rs 7.25cr
Telugu – Rs 6cr
Tamil – Rs 2.6cr
Mayalayam – Rs 1.50cr
To note, the gross collection of Ramayana on the opening day stands at Rs 77.5cr. As a result, Ramayana recorded Ranbir’s highest opener in India and third highest opener for Yash in the Hindi market. This isn’t all. Ramayana has also secured the second highest opening of 2026 after Dhurandhar 2.
Ramayana Fails To Beat Adipurush and Animal
While Ramayana had been facing comparisons with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, this mythological epic was no where close to the spy action thriller. In fact, Ramayana had failed to beat Animal in the Hindi version and struggled beating Prabhas and Kriti Sanon’s Adipurush as well in India.
| Ramayana | Adipurush | Animal | |
| Hindi | Rs 47.5cr | Rs 37.25cr | Rs 54.75cr |
| Kannada | Rs 7.25cr | Rs 40 lakhs | Rs 9 lakhs |
| Tamil | Rs 2.6cr | Rs 70 lakhs | Rs 40 lakhs |
| Telugu | Rs 6cr | Rs 48cr | Rs 8.55cr |
| Malayalam | Rs 1.5cr | Rs 40 lakhs | Rs 1 lakhs |
| Total | Rs 64.85cr | Rs 86.75cr | Rs 63.8cr |
Meanwhile, Ramayana managed to sell 2,525,775 tickets for the opening day. With a decent start and a mixed response, it will be interesting to see if Ramayana will be able to pick up pace during the Diwali festivities.
