Ramayana (Hindi) Box Office Collection: Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in the lead, has been one of the biggest releases of the year. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is a mythological epic which is based on Valmiki’s Ramayana and also features Anupam Kher, Ravi Dubey, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Arun Govil etc. Touted to be a trilogy, Ramayana part 1 has hit the theatres today and it has left everyone brimming with an opinion.
While fans have been lauding Yash’s performance as Ravana, Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s stint as Lord Ram and Sita respectively received a mixed reaction. This isn’t all. The audience has been lauding Ravi Dubey’s performance as Lakshman amid the heavy criticism regarding the VFX in the movie. To note, Ramayana has been released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages in India and speculations were rife about the movie witnessing a stupendous start in India especially in the Hindi market. But Ramayana seems to have failed to live upto the expectations.

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Ramayana made a collection of Rs 47.5cr for the Hindi version on the opening day.

With a collection of Rs 47.5cr on day 1, Ramayana has failed to beat the opening day collection of Toxic Hindi version which was Rs 55cr. Reviewing Ramayana’s box office performance in the Hindi market, film business expert Sumit Kadel tweeted, “The opening is lower than #Yash’s #Toxic, which collected ₹50 Cr in Hindi despite having an average ticket price 40-50% lower than #Ramayana. Had Ramayana recorded an ATP similar to #Drishyam3 and Toxic, these footfalls would have translated into a Day 1 collection of ₹35-38 Cr nett. Absolutely DISMAL OPENING…”.

Meanwhile, Ramayana has minted Rs 64.85cr on day 1 at the domestic box office and apart from Hindi, the movie earned Rs 7.25cr in Kannada, Rs 6cr in Telugu, Rs 2.6cr in Tamil and Rs 1.5cr in Malayalam. On the other hand, the gross collection of Ramayana turned out to be Rs 77.5cr gross on the day of release. We wonder if Ramayana will be able to pick pace during the Diwali weekend.
