Ramayana Hit or Flop: Ramayana has arrived as one of 2026’s most watched Hindi film releases, carrying expectations far beyond a regular star-driven spectacle. The film brings Ranbir Kapoor back to theatres in a major role after a gap, with his portrayal of Lord Ram becoming the central point of audience curiosity. On the other hand, with Yash appearing as Ravana and also backing the project with Namit Malhotra, the film has drawn attention for its casting, visual ambition and reported big-budget treatment of the epic.

Besides, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh and Vivek Oberoi add further weight to the ensemble. This isn’t all. The fact that Ramayana marks Ranbir and Yash’s first collaboration has also added to the excitement. Industry chatter has also placed Ramayana against Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, especially because both films generated strong pre-release buzz. The real test now begins at the box office, where audience response, repeat viewing and word of mouth will decide whether Ramayana can turn its massive anticipation into a record-setting theatrical run.
Ramayana Budget
To note, film critic Rohit Jaiswal, in an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat’s Ranpreet, stated that Ramayana Part 1 is made with a budget of approximately Rs 1700cr and has been shot in Mumbai, Lonavala and London

Rohit also emphasised that while Ramayana will be earning around Rs 65cr for the Hindi version on the opening day, it will be crossing Rs 100cr mark all languages combined on its day of release at the domestic box office

If the prediction turned out to be true, Ramayana will emerge as the second highest opener of 2026 and has the potential to record second highest Bollywood opener of all times. Besides, it is expected to become Ranbir and Yash’s highest opener of all times.
Will Ramayana Be A Hit?
So far, Ramayana has managed to create a buzz among the fans with an intriguing trailer, cast and decent reviews. While the mythological epic is eyeing a spectacular box office start, it will need to cross its budget to be a hit, and fans are hopeful for the same. However, the exact results will depend on how Ramayana will fare at the box office in the coming days.
