Jennifer Lawrence very much remembers the autumn she sparked controversy.
Over a year after the final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty concluded on Prime Video, the Hunger Games actress admitted that her take on the show’s love triangle caused one of her biggest scandals.
“I said that I was team Jeremiah,” Lawrence revealed during an Oct. 28 appearance on Call Her Daddy, nodding to Gavin Casalegno’s character in the series. “The level of hate that I got was bigger than any controversy I’ve ever been involved in in my life.”
While the Oscar winner knew fans of the Jenny Han series largely preferred Christopher Briney’s Conrad for Lola Tung’s Belly, she did not expect to receive so much hate for her opinion.
“I feel like I was rage baiting slightly ‘cause I did it with my friends. I’d be like, ‘I like Jeremiah,’ and they’d be like, ‘Ugh,’” Lawrence recalled. “I thought it was innocent. It was not. People were like, ‘You should die.’”
