Although Bajpayee and Dutta have previously appeared in films such as Veer-Zaara and Special 26, their recent collaborations have given audiences a greater opportunity to witness their acting prowess together.
For Dutta, sharing screen space with Bajpayee was a long-cherished wish. Speaking about working with the actor, she revealed that his name would always top her list whenever she was asked which actor she wanted to collaborate with.
The admiration, however, is mutual. Praising Dutta’s acting abilities, Bajpayee said he believes she is finally receiving the kind of opportunities that allow her talent to shine.
“If you watch some scenes of Last Man in Tower and even of Gajab Raat, you get to know what ability she has. She is very powerful,” Bajpayee said, emphasising the range and intensity Dutta brings to her performances.
Taking his praise a step further, Bajpayee jokingly described Dutta as a “thief” because of how effortlessly she takes over a scene. “Divya Dutta sab chura leti hai. Chor hai woh,” he said, highlighting how she can steal the attention in a scene through her performance.
Bajpayee also revealed that the makers had deliberately kept much of Dutta’s character under wraps in the film’s trailer, allowing audiences to discover her role as the story unfolds. According to him, the character offers viewers a refreshing surprise, showcasing Dutta in a distinctly different light.
Gajab Raat is available for streaming on Netflix.
