Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert on October 30 is set to take place as planned after Delhi Police reconsidered its earlier decision and granted permission for the event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The clearance came after a meeting with organisers BookMyShow Live, ending uncertainty around one of the most closely watched stops of the singer’s AURA India Tour.

The update followed a day of confusion after police had said permission was denied because of threat-related inputs, security concerns and law-and-order commitments during the festive season. A senior police officer later confirmed that approval had been issued after discussions with the organisers.
Diljit Dosanjh reacts to Delhi concert clearance
Diljit responded to the noise around the concert in his usual light-hearted style through a video reel. Without directly naming the controversy, he joked about the debates, reels and tweets around the show, and told fans that if all of that was over, they should meet him on October 30.
He also appeared to take a gentle dig at premature reactions online, saying people should read the correct news before reaching conclusions. The video quickly drew attention from fans, many of whom had been waiting for clarity on whether the Delhi show would go ahead.
BookMyShow Live also clarified that the concert had not been cancelled. The organiser said permission had only been “temporarily withheld” and was later reconsidered and issued. It added that reports suggesting cancellation were inaccurate, stressing that withholding permission and cancellation were not the same thing.
Why permission was briefly withheld
According to police officials, the earlier hesitation was linked to security inputs, festive crowd management and a hoax bomb threat email received by multiple schools in Delhi on October 15. One such email reportedly warned students against attending Dosanjh’s October 30 concert and contained pro-Khalistani slogans.
Six schools, including The British School, Mount Carmel, Ahlcon International School and Ahlcon Public School, were among those that received the email. Officials treated the matter as part of a wider security review before reconsidering permission for the stadium event.
The initial denial also triggered a political reaction. Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj criticised the move and accused the BJP-led government and Delhi Police of bias against “brave Punjabis”. He linked his criticism to Dosanjh’s past support for the farmers’ movement.
With the clearance now in place, attention shifts back to the concert and the crowd arrangements at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. For fans, the latest police approval means the Delhi leg of Diljit Dosanjh’s tour remains on schedule, barring any further official advisory.
