Producer Neither Confirms Nor Denies
The remark is interesting for what it leaves out. Ravi Shankar did not confirm that DSP is out of the project, nor did he deny that Anirudh Ravichander could step in. Such restraint from a producer is hard to ignore.
The final call rests with director Sukumar Bandreddi, who will decide in a few days after returning from a foreign trip. Until then, the question remains open.

A Winning Partnership with a History of Friction
On paper, the case for continuity is strong. Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar have delivered chartbuster albums, both separately and together with DSP. Their films have given listeners songs they love, and the enormous popularity of the Pushpa music is proof of that.
Yet the relationship has not always been smooth. During the making of Pushpa 2, rumours of a rift surfaced after DSP was reportedly sidelined from the background score. At a promotional event in Chennai, he addressed the matter in a joking but pointed manner. He told Ravi Shankar that the makers had more complaints about him than love.
The speech went viral. The producer later dismissed talk of a feud, saying the team works like a close-knit family. He called DSP’s remarks harmless and blamed the media for exaggerating minor creative differences.
Whether history repeats itself with RC17 will become clear soon. For now, the producer’s careful words have only added to the intrigue. The film is expected to go on floors by the end of this year, with Ram Charan expected to be physically ready by then.
