Jo dekhti hu wahi bol deti hu, apne sheher ki sabse badi fasaadi hu!– Internet has found its favourite Mushaira in the form of an AI-generated fictional character- Rita Bhokni. Never had I ever thought that I would be gushing over a female dog character that recites poetry in Urdu. And mind you- I am not alone. So, who is Rita Bhokni and why is she trending on social media?
Who Is Rita Bhokni? Internet’s FAV Sensation Is An AI-Generated Character
Cinema, television and OTT characters, you better watch out. There’s a new competition in the market and she is here to rule the roost. Instagram has been filled with reels of Rita Bhokni, where she is seen reciting dramatic Urdu shayari, showcasing her swag and oozing confidence. Rita, who has emerged as a popular internet character, is actually an AI-generated female dog character who is a traditional mushaira.
While we have seen influencers hogging all the limelight with their reels, for the first time, an AI-generated animal character has grabbed all the attention on social media.
Let me tell you an interesting story. I posted a Rita Bhokni reel on my WhatsApp status, and people from all age groups reacted to it. From sharing funny emojis to giggling after watching the video, my WhatsApp contacts had a blast.

Rita Bhokni Vs Nagina Dasni- What’s The Drama All About?
Just like Prerna had Komolika, Jai and Veeru had Gabbar, our very own Rita Bhokni has her own nemesis- Nagina Dasni, an AI-generated snake character, who is also a mushaira.
Rita and Nagina started as friends, but later became arch rivals. Their rivalry is already the talk of the town, even though they are nothing but mere internet fictional characters.
Nagina is busy planning and plotting against Rita, hoping to beat her and emerge as the ultimate queen of hearts. Their fictional rivalry is no less than an India-Pakistan cricket match as fans are mighty invested in the storyline.
Is Rita Bhokni DEAD? Why Is She Trending On Social Media?
I remember the time when Mihir’s death track in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi left the nation in tears. While Tulsi and Mihir are iconic characters, Rita Bhokni is no less. As fans playfully circulated rumours about Rita Bhokni’s death, there was a certain section of social media users who mourned her demise and wondered if the videos featuring her would no longer be released on Instagram.

Why Rita Bhokni Is Gen Z And Millennials’ FAVOURITE Internet Character?
I talked to a few Gen Z and Millennials who have shared reels featuring Miss Bhokni on Instagram. They didn’t shy away from expressing their love and adulation for their favourite Mushaira.
“It’s her humor and entertaining presence that has managed to capture my attention. How often do you see a traditional Urdu mushaira, who is showcased as confident female dog character? It is brain rot, no doubt, but I love how confident and graceful she is. I love watching her reels,” Vaishali Moghey, 30, exclusively told Filmibeat Assistant Editor Abhishek Ranjit.
Sushmita Gupta, 30, a professional at Amazon India, couldn’t help but gush over Rita Bhokni. “Her reels have all the elements- comedy, friendship, poetry and social situations. I love how she stands confidently behind a vintage microphone and oozes panache. I have even sent her reels to my husband,” Gupta told Filmibeat.
“Gurlllll- OMG! I love her outfit and the way she says Arz Kiya hai and Irshaad. I am learning a few Urdu words through her videos. I love recreating those reels on Instagram,” Kashika Mukherjee, 19, a Delhi University student, quipped when asked about her love for Rita Bhokni.
“I love Rita Bhokni’s personality. Ghosh, I want to be like her, especially how peppy and vibrant she is. Her videos are fun-filled as I have never seen a mushaira who is full-on masalader. The entertainment quotient is high, and I can share so many memes on her,” Rishika Chattapadhyay, 21, said.
Love or hate, you cannot debate that Rita Bhokni is here to rock and roll. I cannot wait to know what happens next in her life. Thanks to her, the traditional mushaira culture has been blended with internet humor. Long live Rita Bhokni.
