Gajendra Chauhan Demands Imran To Be Deported In 24 Hours Amid ‘Leave India’ Notice Row; Calls Him ‘Deshdrohi’

Actor Gajendra Chauhan has sharply criticised Imran Khan after the Bollywood actor was reportedly asked to leave India by October 28, 2026, over his participation in a Mumbai protest. Chauhan called Imran a “deshdrohi” and said the authorities should have acted faster.

The controversy began after Imran, who is known for films such as Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and Delhi Belly, reportedly joined a CJP protest in Mumbai. According to reports, scrutiny later focused on his citizenship status, with officials said to have noted that he is a US citizen and an Overseas Citizen of India cardholder.

Reacting to the reported exit notice, Chauhan welcomed the action and accused Imran of taking advantage of India while not being an Indian citizen. The actor, best known for playing Yudhishthira in Mahabharat, said Imran had earned name, fame and money in the country despite allegedly holding foreign citizenship.

Chauhan told IANS, “I would say that this is a matter of great joy. I am feeling very happy that the hidden traitors in the country have been asked to leave from here.” He further claimed that Imran should not have been given time until October 28 and demanded deportation within 24 hours.

The remarks have added a political edge to what is already a sensitive debate around the rights of OCI cardholders in India. OCI status allows several long-term benefits, but it does not give the same political rights as Indian citizenship.

Raza Murad and Ashoke Pandit back official action

Veteran actor Raza Murad also reacted to the development, saying foreign nationals should not take part in India’s internal political issues. He said Imran had the option to approach court if he felt the action was unfair.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, too, supported the authorities’ decision. He argued that anyone fighting for political rights in India must first understand whether those rights apply to them under their citizenship status.

Imran Khan has not publicly responded to the latest remarks in the reports cited. The matter may now depend on whether he accepts the notice or challenges it legally before the October 28 deadline.
