As PVR INOX Pictures and Lionsgate Play India bring Boiúna: Legend of the Amazon to Indian theatres, the survival thriller takes audiences deep into the unforgiving Amazon rainforest, where a humanitarian mission quickly turns into a fight for survival.

Directed and written by Mike P. Nelson, the film follows a team of young doctors whose mission takes a terrifying turn when their presence awakens the ancient Boiúna, a mythical predator that hunts both on land and in water. Led by Kiana Madeira, Jessica Rothe and Logan Marshall-Green, the film combines creature horror with a high-stakes survival adventure.
Speaking about preparing for her role as Lena, Kiana Madeira revealed the extent of preparation that went into bringing the character to life. “To be able to play her I practiced my dialect for two months leading up to filming. Lena has a very interesting background. She’s Columbian and Brazilian so the dialect when speaking Spanish also has nuances of Brazilian Portuguese.” Madeira also had to learn Spanish for the role, as the film features several lines in the language. “That was a completely new experience for me. It was new and exciting and a great way for me to drop into the character a long time before we even started production.”
