Ghamasaan OTT release: Since its premiere, Ghamasaan has been striking a chord with audiences, with viewers appreciating its gritty storytelling, layered characters and powerful performances. The movie has also sparked conversations around its casting, with each actor bringing a distinct presence to the world of the heartland crime drama.

Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, the movie features Arshad Warsi, Pratik Gandhi, Ishita Dutta and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal roles, with the ensemble adding to the show’s unpredictable and high-stakes narrative.

Known for making strong and instinctive casting choices, Tigmanshu Dhulia also had a very specific reason for bringing Rajpal Yadav into Ghamasaan. In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat Assistant Editor Abhishek Ranjit, the ace director got candid about casting Yadav in the crime drama film.

Rather than simply looking for a familiar face, the filmmaker wanted an actor whose presence could immediately register with audiences and whose unexpected return later in the story could create an element of surprise. The choice also carried a personal connection for Dhulia, who had previously used Rajpal Yadav in a similar way in his debut film Haasil.

Speaking about his decision, director Tigmanshu Dhulia said, “For Rajpal’s role, I definitely needed a star because he comes in the beginning of the film and then comes towards the end of the film. I wanted somebody whom people would recognise and think, ‘Boss, he has just arrived; where has he gone now?’ because when he re-enters the second time, it would be a surprise. I needed that quality for the viewing experience. I used Rajpal in the same way in my first film, Haasil; he was a surprise there too. I needed somebody like that. At that time, his case was also going on, and people were saying, ‘We don’t know if he will be able to do it or not,’ but he did it, and he did it very well.”
