Bakaiti season 2: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, tighten up your seat belts as the second season of Bakaiti is better, bigger and spicier. The much-awaited series has returned with a fresh installment, promising to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat Assistant Editor Abhishek Ranjit over a Zoom call, Rajesh Tailang got candid about Bakaiti season 2 and the equation between Sanjay and Sushma.
Here are excerpts from the interview
Q. Sanjay and Sushma fight, tease, and still stick together. What makes their equation so unique yet so relatable?
A. Sanjay and Sushma may fight a lot, but they always find their way back to each other with love. They can hurt each other in the heat of an argument, but they also understand each other almost immediately. I think that is the most beautiful thing about their relationship; they don’t hold grudges. They may fight, but they quickly understand each other, make up, and move on.
They are also always ready to support each other. At the same time, they have moved beyond the socially conditioned roles that are often assigned to a husband and wife. They understand that these roles can be challenged and can change. I think that balance between their everyday fights, understanding, and willingness to evolve is what makes their relationship so beautiful and relatable.”
Q. Bakaiti is returning with Season 2 – what are you most excited for audiences to see this time around?
A. I am very excited that Season 2 is coming back within a year. It is not very often that a new season returns so soon, and I think that is a reflection of how much the audience loved the first season. Zee 5 and the makers wanted to bring the next season to audiences as soon as possible, and I am very happy that it is finally happening.
After Season 1, I received so many comments and questions from people – on social media, in person, in different situations, and even from people I met on the road. The one question that kept coming back was, When is the next season of Bakaiti coming?”” So I am sure the audience will be just as excited as we are to see Season 2. We are very happy to bring it back to them.
Q. What do you think audiences connected with the most about Bakaiti in Season 1? And now, with Season 2, what do you hope the show achieves?
A. I think what audiences connected with most in Season 1 was how much they saw themselves in the characters. They reminded people of their own families, neighbours, uncles, parents, children, siblings, and cousins. It felt like a real home.
Their happiness feels like our happiness, and their problems feel like problems we have seen or experienced ourselves. There are no larger-than-life or overly dramatic situations. Instead, it is a slice of everyday life that feels familiar because these people could easily be living among us.
You laugh with them, feel for them, get angry with them, and sometimes even feel sorry for them. But ultimately, they are very likeable, relatable characters. I think it is these simple, everyday situations and emotions that made audiences connect with Bakaiti, and I hope Season 2 continues to create that same feeling.
Bakaiti season 2 is available for streaming on ZEE5.
